1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Footprints (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

The App is developed and maintained by Footprints Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

2. Description of Service

Footprints is a personal Bible study and wellness companion that runs across phones and tablets, Wear OS watches, Android TV, Android Auto, and Android Automotive (AAOS). It provides:

3.1 Free baseline access

Footprints provides baseline functionality at no cost, including the ability to read Bible text and view your calendar. This baseline is always available regardless of your access status.

3.2 Full-feature access

Full access to Footprints’ features — including AI tools, mindful walks, journaling, and quizzes — is unlocked on a weekly cycle. Once per week, the App will present you with a choice:

Both options grant identical access. There is no premium tier and no distinction between users who contribute and those who watch ads.

No subscriptions. Contributions are one-time payments processed weekly at your choice — not recurring subscriptions. You will never be charged automatically.

3.3 Contributions and refunds

All contributions are processed through Google Play Billing and are subject to Google Play’s refund policies. We do not directly process payments or store financial information.

4. User Accounts

You may use Footprints without an account for basic on-device functionality. To enable cross-device sync, you must sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account credentials and your Footprints sync passphrase.

If you forget your sync passphrase, your synced data cannot be recovered. We do not store or have access to your passphrase.

5. User Content

5.1 Ownership

You retain full ownership of all content you create in Footprints, including journal entries, study notes, highlights, and tags. We claim no rights over your content.

5.2 Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the content you create within the App. The App is designed for personal spiritual reflection and study.

6. AI-Powered Features

6.1 On-device processing

Footprints uses on-device artificial intelligence (Google Gemini Nano) to provide study suggestions, journal reflections, and quiz content. All AI processing occurs locally on your device. Your personal data is not sent to external AI servers.

6.2 Accuracy disclaimer

AI-generated content — including study suggestions, biblical context, and quiz questions — is provided for informational and reflective purposes only. AI outputs may contain inaccuracies. The App is not a substitute for personal study, pastoral counsel, or theological expertise. You should verify any AI-generated scriptural references or interpretations independently.

7. Health and Wellness Features

7.1 Not medical advice

Footprints’ mindful walk tracking, step counting, and wellness features are intended for personal wellness tracking and spiritual enrichment. They do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning any exercise program.

7.2 Health Connect integration

If you grant permission, Footprints reads and writes exercise and mindfulness session data to Android Health Connect. This data is governed by Health Connect’s permissions and your device-level privacy settings.

8. Scripture Content

The King James Version (KJV) Bible text and the narrated audio included with Footprints are in the public domain. Audio is streamed on demand from a content delivery network and cached locally on your device for offline replay.

The Footprints name, logo, design, and source code are the property of Footprints Inc.. All rights reserved. No part of the App may be reproduced, distributed, or transmitted in any form without prior written permission.

11. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including Google Sign-In, Google Drive, Google Play Billing, Google AdMob, Android Health Connect, Google Play Services (Wearable Data Layer), the Google Cast SDK, the Android system text-to-speech engine, and Cloudflare R2 (which hosts the public-domain narration audio and the AI Confidant model). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or availability of third-party services. 12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated content or wellness tracking data.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL FOOTPRINTS INC. BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

14. Data Loss

While we take reasonable steps to ensure data integrity, we are not responsible for loss of data stored on your device or in your Google Drive. You are encouraged to maintain your own backups. In particular, loss of your sync passphrase will result in permanent loss of access to synced data, and we cannot recover it.

15. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the App or by updating the effective date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We reserve the right to discontinue the App or any feature at any time without liability. Upon termination, your locally stored data remains on your device until you delete it. Synced data remains in your Google Drive until you delete it.

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta, Canada.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms remain in full force and effect.
