Footprints is designed with conviction: your spiritual life is deeply personal, and your data should stay that way. Every feature is built privacy-first, with on-device processing and zero-knowledge encryption.

There is no premium tier. Every user gets the full Footprints experience. The app is sustained by optional weekly contributions or a single rewarded ad — your choice.

Footprints is denominationally neutral. The King James Version is the default because it is public domain — free to read, free to hear, free to carry across surfaces — not because of a doctrinal stance.

It is a stewardship tool, not a substitute for community, a counselor, or a clinician. We hope it deepens your practice; we know it cannot replace people.

Footprints has no servers that hold your data. If development stopped tomorrow, the installed app keeps working offline, your encrypted Drive backup remains in your own Google account, and your passphrase is still your key.

Android is shipping today. iOS, macOS, Windows, and Linux desktop builds are in development on the same shared Rust core. No promised dates — only the direction.

The honest answers.

Is Footprints affiliated with a church or denomination?

No. Footprints is independently developed and denominationally neutral. It defaults to the King James Version because the KJV is in the public domain — a practical choice, not a doctrinal one.

Why KJV?

Because it is the most widely beloved English translation that is free for everyone to read, hear, distribute, and adapt. Public-domain text means no licensing fees, no per-verse restrictions, and full control over offline reading, narrated audio, and on-device AI.

Is iOS coming?

Yes — it is on the roadmap. The Rust core that powers the Android, Tauri-desktop, and GTK Linux builds is shared, so iOS, macOS, and Windows builds use the same foundation. No public date yet.

What happens to my $1?

It pays for the things the app actually costs: Cloudflare R2 bandwidth for narrated audio and AI model downloads, the Google Play Developer fee, and the time spent building. Anything left over keeps the project sustainable. There is no investor takeout.

Is the weekly $1 a subscription?

No — it is an optional weekly contribution through Google Play Billing, processed one week at a time. Every Footprints feature works without it. You can also choose to watch a single rewarded ad instead, or do neither. There is no premium tier behind a paywall.

How do I export or delete my data?

All your data lives on your device. From the app’s settings you can export everything as JSON or Markdown and delete locally stored data at any time. If you enabled cross-device sync, you can also remove the encrypted Drive backup from the same screen.

What’s the relationship between Footprints and church.footprintsbible.com?

Footprints (the app) is a personal Bible study companion. The church management system at church.footprintsbible.com is a separate product on the same brand for congregations who want a private way to organize their community. The two are independent: the app never pushes your activity to any congregation, and the church platform never sees your personal study data.
